Michael, have you re-bedded all of your deck fittings: fuel and water
fitting, chain plates, etc. And how much of a problem was it?

The teak decks should not cause leaks. Babas and Pandas are made with a
fiberglass-balsa-fiberglass sandwich for decks, and the screws which hold
down a teak deck do not (well, should not) penetrate thru the upper
fiberglass layer of the deck The problem is - HEAT! You could get leaks
from thru-bolted stuff, tracks, stantions, deck joints, chainplates, but
those appear independant of teak. The heat is something else - hard to walk
on barefoot and a lot of heat radiating into the cabin from above. We have
teak decks and teak cabin roof and the interior gets QUITE warm in the
summer in Mexico - of course, it also keeps us warmer in the "cold" winters
too, and provides good traction for moving about on deck. I think the
question here is - is there a better way to go about removing the teak than
chiseling it off where you see it, and if there is, what way is that?
