Hi John,

I have completed the job on 4 of mine.

I removed the glass portion of the port so that I could lay it down on
the workbench and work on it. I bought a couple of chisels that were
sized right and dug out all the old gasket material being careful not to
gouge the bronze. I then used my dremmil with a wire brush and got more
of the stuff out and finally used adhesive cleaner to get the remaining
stuff out.

I then cut the new material about 1/8 of an inch longer than I needed
and stuffed it in the channel keeping the seam to the top of the window.
I installed the window back on the frame and closed it for a week or
two. The four that I have completed were finished about 2 months ago
and I wanted to wait and see if the gasket material would stay in place
as everyone says not to glue it in. So far so good, no leaks and it
looks great.

I got the gasket material from Lewis Marine and I was told that the
product was dis-continued but they had a bunch in the warehouse.
