The broadband speeds with an EDVO card are much higher and I
routinely download video clips.

I am in Back Creek, Annapolis right now.

I just did a speed test on dslreports.com:

These are the results:

Your download speed : 467 kbps or 58.3 KB/sec.
That is 10.6% better than an average user on myvzw.com

Your upload speed : 232 kbps or 29 KB/sec.
That is 172.9% better than an average user on myvzw.com

Wow, this is the highest I have ever tested.

I did a second test which is more typical:

Your download speed : 248 kbps or 31 KB/sec.
That is 41.2% worse than an average user on myvzw.com

Your upload speed : 68 kbps or 8.5 KB/sec.
That is 20% worse than an average user on myvzw.com

The first test was a fluke.

Alan
