Hi Folks,

A couple of people seem to have been some problems posting and I thought
I'd take a moment to give a few pointers...

1. Watch your email address:
Some users have special email addresses that they use for the Baba list.
This is great, except when they forget and use one of their other email
addresses. When the list software gets a message from an address that it
doesn't recognize, it rejects the message. (It appears that Mr. Beddoe
may have been having this problem lately, but several others have
experienced it as well.)

2. Dump AOL:
AOL randomly bans message from the list. Some get through and some
don't. There's nothing that can be done about this - AOL has a policy of
"stop spam at all costs". It makes great advertising, but the users
loose out. If you're on AOL (and you manage to get this message) I'd be
happy to change your subscription to another address.

3. Watch your Spam filter:
If you suddenly stop getting messages from the list, or if you stop
getting *your own* postings sent to you from the list, check your spam
folder. Your anti-spam software may be filtering the messages. You
should be able to tweak your setting to fix this problem.

4. Check your email settings:
Some people have mail software that won't accept non-standard mail
encodings. Recently someone was having trouble with others not being
able to see his messages. The problem was that he had some interesting
formatting in his emails. Check your config and make sure that your
email software is set to use "Western (ISO-8859-1)" encoding. Better
yet, set your software to send your mail as plain text (no formatting).
That way everyone can read it.

5. Watch the size:
Dave Lewis figured out that you can send images to the list if you keep
them very small. Others have tried this and the messages haven't gotten
through. The list software has a size limit of about 400Kb (including
the message headers, any text, and the attachment). Anything bigger than
that gets rejected. I would suggest keeping image sizes below 100Kb and
only sending one at a time. Better yet, talk to Bruce about uploading
your messages to the FTP site and use a link to point people to them.
