Hi Rick. My Baba, Lorac, had one of the West Marine type Bimini's. I would
NEVER try that again. They are made of only the cheapest materials and are
guarantied not to last long. One real good gust of wind will prove my point.
We made our own for a cost of about $400.00 (this included hard-pointing it,
I hate those annoying straps ). It came out looking great. We are going to
do a dodger next. We also modified the bow roller system on Lorac. The 35
lb. CQR rests better on the modified system and it never hits the bow sprit
while being dropped or retrieved. Another bonus is that the bow sprit
platform has more room for relaxing on.
