First off... there are no dumb questions from the new guy. You are a fellow
sailor and trying to understand your boat, this is good seamanship, do not
be embarrassed about asking questions.

Everyone should be aware of the "trim" of their vessel. Port/Stbd Fore/Aft.
If you have limited the difference to the batteries... take them off the
vessel to see if the Port/Stbd trim is resolved. If the boat is now balanced
and trim Port/Stbd decide what you want to do to correct the situation.

Options: relocate the batteries. This might not be possible, and if not,
purchase some lead ingots to put on the Port side to bring the vessel back
into trim. These ingots have to be secured, so first place them in the boat
to achieve balance, then devise a method the secure them, so if you ever
enter rough seas they will not come loose and cause damage to personnel or
the interior of the vessel.

I wish you well my friend, this is an interesting problem, but easily
resolved with a little time, effort and research.
