My dilemma is dry rot in the traveler support. I have the garage for the
main hatch off of the boat as I had to completely rebuild it. The
plywood underneath was rotting away. The aft part of the top of the
garage is inserted into a dado slot cut into the traveler support. Well,
the wood in the dado slot is just crumbling away. I have been trying to
decide what to do about it. My main concern is the strength of the
traveler support. Having a new one made is probably expensive and would
involve removing the headliner. Another option would be to use the
Git-Rot stuff. The third option would be to remove the dry rot and
sister in some new teak.

We found that on our bowsprit as well. It was only in the holy and not
the
teak of course. We had it pulled and cut out with a large band saw and
had
teak cut to fit and epoxied it in place. Worked great as the rot was on
the
underside and only about eight to ten inches forward.

wood + water - air = dryrot. Or something like that.

Where I found this stuff was the sucppers and a little bit where one
chainplate passes through the deck. The most alarming spot however, was
in
one of the laminates in the bowsprit under the windlass. Definitely
something to check. Looked okay on the surface, but a poke with a
screwdriver proved otherwise. A new bowsprit does not sound like an
inexpensive item.
