Put the Spectra watermaker back on. They work even better with fresh water
intake than they do with salt water. In Mexico we make battery water by
running tank fresh water through the Spectra and collecting the 10ppm or
less water that comes out. When connected to a dock, people here run the
dock water through their Spectras and into the tank (check for chlorination
first). The only precaution is to have a good sediment filtering system - 5
microns, plus or minus a 20 micron filter before that. We have a Spectra
representative just down the dock who showed us this. If your system made 8
gallons per hour from sea water, it should make about 15 gallons per hour
with fresh water. The membrane also filters out bacteria (bacteria are
bigger than sodium ions!) If you are still unsure, check with Glenn
Bashforth, the designer of the Spectra systems at (415) 526-2780...
