Sorry for the delay in getting photos - the #@$&* cable from camera to
computer went walkabout, and then I was not up to the challange of uploading
images to the server. Hopefully owner-baba-l will pardon this lapse... but
soon they might be posted.
To reiterate - this autopilot, an Alpha Spectra, indeterminate age, came
with the boat seven years ago, has performed flawlessly during that time
after overcoming the installers' set screw fitting on the rudder post (not
the manufacturer's problem), and still allows for some storage (batteries,
cleaning products, hooka hose, spare steering cable) in that part of the
lazarette, with lines for the Monitor steering vane behind it. We have used
it in up to 50 knots of wind, uphill and downhill, and have not found fault
with it. The "brain" and control head are down below, by the nav desk, and a
remote connection is in the port puka. Good luck, Tom!
