Hi Gang!

We're back from eight days at Catalina. (Actually we got back Wednesday
evening, but this is the first chance I've had to write anything.) I'd
like to report great feats of sailing, but the focus of the trip turned
out to mostly be staying warm and dry, and keeping the mud out of the boat.

We were able to do some hiking when the weather was nice. We climbed the
hill on the east side of Cat Harbor. This is a photo of the Isthmus from
up there...

We had a couple of bug successes:
  The new head plumbing worked perfectly! (Thanks to Peggie for all of
her advice!) Likewise, the new galley foot pumps (fresh and salt) proved
to be very useful. Also, Rick's valve adjustment stopped the smoking
that always left us with "dirty butt" every time we ran the engine for a
few hours. (A new prop helped a lot, but never completely eliminated the
problem.) The engine sure sounds nice now!

He also had a few problems:
The deck prism *IS* leaking again (as I suspected) and is on the short
list to be rebedded as soon as things dry up a bit around here. The
batteries seem to be getting pretty tired (although that could just
reflect our spending so much more time aboard than usual).

All in all, it was a fun trip, but I think we might wait for a more
stable weather pattern before heading out in March again.
