Van,
That really depends. It seems there were many manufacturers of masts for the
Baba 30. On our vessel, the masthead is a removable assembly allowing access
to a cotter pin holding the shaft for the sheaves.
I may have some pics of this laying around somewhere.

For off-shore - the sole get's pretty slippery.
I have thought of doing one of the following:
1. Reversible boards with non-skid:
2. A separate set of boards for off-shore: or
3. Sprinkle non-skid grit in the varnish.
Also, anyone figure a good way to fasten the
boards down IN A BABA 30 for heavy weather sailng.
