Thought I might contribute something to the question for Rick.
 
I did a complete change over of instruments transducers a few winters back.
Here is what I found: "Most major brands" of instruments use Airmar
transducers with a 2" diameter through hull. Some instrument brands like old
Nexus are an odd diameter through hull with 1.5" diameter. I would recommend
that you choose an instrument brand that uses the Airmar product with 2"
diameter. In the future, if you wish to change the transducer you can use
the same "Airmar" through hull and just pop in the new transducer. At one
time Airmar came out with a single unit that read both temp and speed. This
was considered state of the art but now standard configuration with just
about every brand instrument. I believe they now have a single transducers
that does it all - speed, depth and temp. What I'm getting at is the ability
to change instruments and /or transducers without having to pull the old
through hull out of the hull if new technology becomes available or you wish
to change brands of instruments.

I upgraded Nexus to the new ComNav instruments and had to re-drill the hull
for a bigger hole to accommodate the new transducers through hulls. The
ComNav instruments are great but have features far more complex than what is
need on a cruising boat. Most of the time, I use only the most basic
features. ComNav made big improvements in the stability of their depth
compared to the old Nexus and I generally get stable, reliable depth
readings.

I think we have the same instrumentation as your old stuff which is why
I asked. Did you need to change the through-hull at all, or did the
Raymarine sensor fit in the same holder? Any issues with the depth
transducer?
