For those interested in geeking out for a moment, check this out.

As some of you know, I've been working on modeling up a Baba 30 using a
solid modeling program called SolidWorks. I have been working diligently on
this model and have learned a great deal about fairing hulls using the
software. This experience has even helped us sell the software into the
industry (I'm amazed at how far behind the times the yacht design industry
is...even farther behind than architects! [g]).

I'm taking this model a step further utilizing some equipment from one of
our customers to produce an actual, physical model.

This model will be produced on a Rapid Prototyping machine called a 3D
printer. If you're not sure what that is, the name speaks for itself. These
devices print layers of polymer which eventually results in an actual part.
The model will be 'printed' in two pieces. The assembled model will be
around 10" long.

This model will not be 100% accurate. The amount of detail needs to be
limited. For the most part, however, it should be pretty cool. I should have
it within the next few weeks.
