new seems to be about $1100 and rebuilds a couple hundred less, but since
the real expense is in the pulling the engine and other associated things=
 it
seems that new is the way to go. I am told that that transmission is a
little light for the job and replacement at 1200 hours is not to unusual.
What say you all?

I went down a somewhat similar route when OWTW ate its tranny (mainly
the clutches). Long story short, it was cheaper to replace than rebuild
by a significant amount.
