Edward,
I have the Universal M50B or 5444 model on a Baba 40 and it has been a great
engine to date. The 2 bladed prop was swapped on for a 3 blade bt the PO and
then I upgraded to a Maxi prop. During my last overhaul I noted a rusty
bracket that secures the clutch cable the Hurth transmission and decided it
was time to pull the transmission to determine the cause of this excess rust
on the cable bracket. At first glance it looked fine and we were making
plans to mfg a new bracket when I decided I had nothing to lose by
consulting a local transmission expert. That is when we found the fracture
on the output shaft seal retaining ring. I contacted MER in Seattle and they
replaced the transmission gave me a core credit for the old one in return.

Subject: [Baba-L] two blade prop pitch
I will be hauling the Baba 35 this winter and replacing the transmission and
repitching the prop. I have the Universal 5440
( 32 HP) engine on a Hirth transmission with a 2:1 gear. If any one has
information on the Baba 35 with this configuration i would like there
thoughts. In particular, with the 2 blade prop, what pitch do you have, max
RPM you achieve and max speed you get.
