I replaced the cutless bearing on my baba 30 earlier this year and had already purchased what I expected to be a standard size replacement bearing based on previous posts, however my bearing turned out to be smaller in diameter and only 4" long. As I had had to cut my propshaft in half to get the old bearing out and was making a new propshaft we decided to leave an inch of the new 5" cutless bearing sticking out, My engineer thought this was fine and a side effect is that I should be able to replace it with shaft in situ next time.
