you like, post them to the ftp site. As our boats age basic systems will

have to be rebuilt. The old hose, which was clear PVC, allowed light in and

this was perfect for helping algae growth. The new color coded hose will

prevent this. Although this is a project I have been looking at for a few

years now I have another one looming over my shoulder that is far more

troublesome. This is a fuel tank change. One of our former list members, a

live-aboard world cruiser, just experienced a failed fuel tank and all his

reserve leaked into the bilge. I don't want to get too off topic here

without starting a new thread but this has been discussed before and is a

topic that should be updated from time to time. Sooner or later all of us

will be faced with replacing the black iron tank.

Guess what? I did it. When I pulled my fuel tanks, I sat in the bilge for

days looking at what could be done to make the boat better. I pulled out al=
l

the old water hose and replaced with the Peck plastic pipe system. You are

correct on only needing one tool to crimp the cooper compression rings. The

fittings, tee, elbows, and slices are no bigger then the pipe itself. The

cold water is blue, and hot water red. There are small plastic pipe hangers

and the whole system goes together very nicely. I have pictures if you want

to see what it looks like, let me know. The crimp tool is expensive, but

that is the only draw back. There were no water leaks in the entire system,

it far surpasses the old hose and hose clamps.

 

The pipe system came from a wholesale plumbing supply yard (Ferguson)
