Thanks for the suggestion on the refrigeration box. We have the same
configuration with our freezer outboard. I wonder if the "soft pad" will
help if placed beneath the frozen food as well. When I removed everything
from the freezer after three weeks the food that was in direct contact with
the curved side of the freezer box, (the side that follows the shape of the
hull) did not stay frozen. Any food kept in plastic freezer containers like
Tupperware did very well. I put wireless temperature sensors from Radio
Shack in both refrigerator and freezer to monitor the temperature. The
freezer never went above 29 degrees F. I thought this not bad but understand
the ideal freezer temp is 0. The idea of reconstructing the box insulation
is daunting so I am very much motivated to try anything else first. I will
have to take a close look at the engine side bulkhead from the engine
compartment and see if it is possible to strip this wall of all the stuff
mounted there and install a vacuum panel.
