Eh... we have one of their 3.5's. It works and is fine for local rides
(too weak for long haul work or getting the dink up on plane with two on
board) although it's had its moments (stuck piston ring one spring, dead
water pump impeller another spring).

My guess is Yammy o/b's are so common for the same reason Yanmars are
everywhere while Bukhs are pretty scarce: aggressive sales and
distribution nets coupled with good performance and reliability make
them the engines of choice.
