What Rick said!

I'd like to add a couple of comments.

First, there seems to be a feeling that a "groups" solution is somehow
more permanent. There may be fewer small snags, but the big snags will
happen. It's the internet. It's not really real. Companies rise and
fall. They change policies, Projects get started and stopped. It
happens. I make my living riding those waves.

Secondly, the DIY solutions have been characterized as being somehow
onerous and exhausting. Perhaps this is sometimes the case if the goals
are over reaching (watch out Bruce!). Of the mailing lists I've served,
the biggest problem I've had is people not updating their addresses.
There are problems I can't solve, so I don't try to solve them. Even
Steve Case can't tame AOL!

Regardless of the solution chosen, we'd better do something soon cause
this list turns into a pumpkin in about 5 days. I haven't added the list
of addresses to my listserv because I'm trying not to push it. Some
people have been testing it and have been testing the Google approach.
Perhaps they should reflect on what they have experienced.

Cindy
