Charles, I agree that there are costs associated with running a list;
however I think when "piggybacked" on existing equipment and existing
Internet service they are almost negligible.
I setup the Yahoo group in less than 10 minutes. While we're not going that
route, it would in fact work and they (Yahoo) would have to deal with spam,
antivirus, server uptime, disk space, Internet connection, etc etc... I'm
willing to tolerate some advertisements and/or popups not to have to try to
provide a service that they provide free.
Anyway, my point is that the list will live on, and it will be free because
of the generousity of all the members. It's how the Internet works, and it
works well. (for now at least...)
