Sounds like you are all pulling this together. With reference to item #3
below, (Light Bandwidth email) please read post from Gary Walls (Bill Healy,
Amadon Light). They are both very experienced world cruisers with 2 +
circumnavigations. The advice to abandon this light weight bandwidth idea is
something I agree with. Cruisers do not have the capability to receive high
volumes of email via SSB radio and Pactor modem. Generally, they wait until
they are in port to reach an Internet connection to get their Baba List
postings. No need for building the list infrastructure around this concern.

OK,

I'm hearing all the feedback and I'll make a few points:

1.) www.tashing.org If we get separated, meet there! Bruce will have a
pointer to the new list as soon as it is established.

2.) If you've posted before to the baba-l or sailjazz lists (from your
preferred email address), once the new list is decided upon, we (the techies

among us) will email you telling you where it's at. To be on the safe side,

send Cindy your email address and she'll have the list. I think the current

sailjazz list has 178 members. If you have NEVER posted to the list, then
definitely send Cindy your email, otherwise we don't know who you are.

3.) Rick B., there's been some feedback regarding a desire for a
lightweight email only list for those with limited bandwidth. Any thoughts
on this? I'm still rooting for you since you seem to have more existing
infrastructure with your existing domain and page! I'm not intimately
familiar with the popular PHP / MySQL open source forum offerings, but I'm
guessing that they have the ability to act as email listservs. (I'll do
some reading and see what I find)

4.) Should your batteries run out before you can issue another SOS, we'll
send a Hellicopter to your last known position. (In other words, if
something doesn't materialize before sailjazz dies, I'll be in contact with
Rick, Cindy, Bruce, et all and we'll put something together...)
