The Valiant list has already gone ahead and set up a yahoo site. I'm not
saying I advocate it, but the thought of combining ours with theirs, and
maybe Tayana too, did occur to me. I am friends with the person who set up
the yahoo one and have sent him an off-list email bouncing the idea off him
too.

Ken, one problem I worry about with literally doing it ourselves (listserv,
etc) is that we will run into the same problems that Rick E did. But maybe
most of those can be avoided by banning AOL, period, no exceptions.

Any thoughts, baba people?

I just sent an email to SailJazz explaining to them that they are sawing off
the branch that they are sitting on. I'm sure they're receiving thousands
of versions of the same message. I'm guessing that they will realize at the
last minute that the lists should stay free, otherwise the lists will die
just like their website will...

I'm suggesting two solutions, in order of my preference:

1.) Setup a Yahoo or MSN group and take our discussions there.

2.) I can setup a new listserv / forum server (I'm a unix sys admin by
day...)

Vote via email and let's try not to duplicate efforts...
