I have used a 48 qt Coleman cooler lashed by its handles to the stern rail.
Gets me up nice and high - only problem is the backstay in my back and some
bonehead crew asking me to pull a beer out of my rear for them. It also
keeps the cooler convenient. This might not work too well on a canoe stern,
however, as it appears the width might be insufficient.
