First of all, tacking a Baba (which I found out in Polish means something like 'buxom woman') with the boat going less than 2 kts is a crapshoot. We've learned not to even attempt such a thing. If it's absolutely necessary (to avoid a collision with something else that's barely moving, like the shore for example), we'll use the engine.

As for less revolutions, we turn about 1 1/2 turns in either direction. If you are experiencing less than before, check to make sure the quadrant is not blocked. Turn the wheel all the way to the stops. you'll need someone to wedge themselves down there to watch while you turn (or vice versa [g]). If the quadrant does not make it to the stops, it could be some sort of muck or growth on your rudder or possibly some binding in the helm. Check to make sure your wheel lock is not engaged. We had to check this often when curious 5 year-olds thought it was neat-o to turn.
