Rick is right that you can get your decks re-caulked in Trinidad but beware
that the price of labor may have changed since you were last there. In 2003
the labor rate was increasing towards "industry standards". I would guess
that experienced labor associated with one of the credible yards there was
at least $30 per hour.

One of our cruising buddies hired an independent local to clean up his boat
in and out for much less than that so some deals may be had.

Since hurricane Ivan wiped out Grenada, the yards in Trinidad have been
swamped so prices may be up due to that, too. Cruisers that normally hang
in Grenada are now going to Trini and Venezuela due to insurance
requirements and safety concerns. Hurricane Emily went right north of
Grenada a few days ago but was only Category 1/2. Of the 10,000 homes
destroyed on Grenada in 2003, only 170 have been rebuilt as a few weeks ago,
mostly due to materials shortages. Emily sure didn't help. It all puts
more pressure on surrounding islands since they come to each others aid.

You can get anything done for your boat within walking distance in
Chagaramas. Re-caulking decks is a relatively easy job and the TDS
(silicone! based) seems to hold up as well as the others we have tried. Our
decks look great.
