Cindy, I used Solidworks to model this based on the Baba drawings. I pretty much guessed at the sectional shapes. I modeled the keel separately, but I may go back and change that. Ideally, I should use stations and loft a surface along the stations. I would then 'knit' the surfaces into a solid. Also, all the hardware is being modeled from memory. I'm almost certain I have the masthead fitting all wrong, but it works.

Solidworks is terrific for this. I tried doing some things in Rhino (the software Bob Perry uses), but it's not very forgiving if you want to go back and change anything. Solidworks is parametric. All the solids are sketch driven. This makes it easy to go back and change things by simply changing the sketch. And different from Rhino, this baby is SOLID. That allows me to do all sorts of cool things.

The .wrl (VRML) file will load fine IF you have a .wrl plugin loaded (which I had no doubt you'd have). Most people don't. I would highly recommend that you install the e-Drawings viewer. It gives you a ton of features you won't get in a VRML viewer. For instance, clicking on the UI mode will give you a tree that displays all the components in the model. You can selectively view each component or make a component transparent. The viewer also gives much better dynamic view performance than a VRML viewer. Plus, the viewer gives you absolute detail...down to every nut and bolt. If you have a mouse with a wheel, you can zoom right up to any component. If you don't have a wheel, use the menu to zoom.

It's very nice.
