What about just putting in a permanent step that would run from the
existing v-berth step across to just under the closet door. You would have
good strong placed to screw in supports at either end and if you use a
sturdy plank, it should not break. I could be just below the first drawer
as you show.

I do not think it would get in the way of anything.

ps I find it easier to sleep with my head toward the bow and easier to
crawl into the v-berth. My pillow is then supported up there and I put a
light and fan in there.
