Snubber certainly helps and has many other advantages but if you are riding
out a blow, you might "sail" around a lot like we do and it can be hard to
sleep, especially in the v-berth.
I had already beefed up the lower bobstay fitting fasteners (and would still
like to move it up 6 inches) and they now are thru bolts. One goes into the
chain locker and one thru the samson post in to the v berth with a
decorative teak cap. I was able to get a huge Winchard shackle (5/8 pin, I
think) for the bottom turn buckle and run my snubber thru this and that
made it much quieter and a better angle for the rode. I vary the length of
it to move the chafe point around the snubber and it lasted over a blustery
year on the hook.
