You seem hostile and not at all like someone who is really asking for help.
I took my time to sincerely try and help you based on similar problems
experienced by our customers. I'm surprised that a person with your
credentials hasn't written their own navigation program.

The CAPN is used by the US Coast Guard and Navy on ships all over the world.
Were it the least bit unreliable, the military would cancel their contract
with Nautical Technologies immediately. I've sold thousands of CAPN programs
to demanding cruisers, racers, and commercial customers for over 10 years.
The program enjoys a well deserved reputation of reliability throughout the
marine community. I typically run The CAPN at boat shows 8 hours a day for
as much as 10 days with the public 'playing' with it. The CAPN has rarely
failed in this stressful environment and has proven remarkably robust.

Your statement that "Given earlier revs never showed this problem with the
same laptop and OS (WinXP Pro) last year, it doesn't look good for V7.5.3."
assumes that the program was changed and is now unreliable with your PC. No
other users have had this problem that I'm aware of. If they did, I would
stop selling The CAPN and recommend another program.

I suspect you have a Windows problem but I doubt you would contact Microsoft
in this manner.

I am a dealer for Nautical Technologies and have no control over when they
release an update. I can only tell a customer what they tell me and I was
told on numerous occasions that the final release date for CAPN 8.0 was the
Miami Boat Show in February. Nautical Technologies has the responsibility to
contact customers who were sold 7.5 upgrades and send them a free upgrade to
8.2. I received my own copy of 8.2 between the messages to you and have just
started receiving full program inventory a few days ago. I still don't have
any upgrade inventory.

It is in my interest to tell my customers the truth and deliver quality
software to them as soon as possible. This is the way we have always run our
business. Since you have implied that I do neither, I'm choosing to cease
doing business with you. Please direct all of your future communication to
Nautical Technologies.

Thank you for an excellent example of fingerpointing and conclusions
reached without supporting information. I have taught computer science
at the university level. I *write* TSR's on occasion (*not* on my nav
system, obviously). I also have done (and continue to do) security
consulting (past clients include the U.S. Navy). Suffice it to say that
all of my systems (nav and otherwise) are secured from intrusion by
appropriate means and methods. In short, I do know about resource
management in Windows (and other) OS' and I do understand security risk
management in an environment more stringent than a home PC.

I bought 7.5.3 from you as an interim rev. pending the release of V8.x.
It now appears V8.x is in release (your last note indicated it was not
and that you were still waiting for it) and has been updated at least
once, all without any mention, from you, of this. So much for relying
on you for V8.0.
