Whew! I'm getting a lot of mail on this from multiple directions - I'll
try to cut the Gordian Knot... [grin]

First, one of the central operating premises of Baba-L was to know who
was getting the mail and who was sending it. Second, if someone was off
the "white list", they didn't get addresses. I'd like to see that
continue as the passage through Baba-L does have my name attached to it
and, therefore, I feel some on-going responsibility to maintain address
security.

Second, in cases where it makes some sense to contact an author
directly, it'd be a shame not to be able to do that. Keep in mind,
however, that more than a couple of the archived addresses are no longer
valid.

Third, simple substitutions of the form "clowns[space]#[space]play.com"
for "clowns(at)play.com" are easy to reverse (never underestimate the
motivation or tenacity of a spammer, miner, or phisher - perl and grep
work miracles). Only out and out address denial works reliably. OTOH,
the message content should be available for anyone with interest in the
subjects. There's a clear conflict here.

Fourth, the messages are, insofar as I know, in RFC-822 (Standard for
the format of ARPA Internet text messages) format or close enough to it
that the difference is immaterial. At least that's how I formatted them
with babasend. After mail hit the information superhighway, it might
have become roadkill... [grin]

Fifth (although somewhat less directly connected), as was pointed out,
Outlook's address book is an open invitation to mischief. I strongly
recommend avoiding that format like the plague.
