I just had my Panda 40 hull 129 re-rigged and replaced the rotten mast step.
  On the advice of my rigger, Brion Toss, I moved the mast base aft an inch
or so to give the mast a better curve when the rig is fully tuned. Brion
would have like even more that an inch aft, but I couldn't go back any
further due to the design of my new step. So, the mast no longer sits
upright under slack rigging, but actually tilts forward a bit at the
masthead.
